Polyglutamic is a protein comprised of the amino acid Glutamic Acid. The prefix “poly-” in its name means that this molecule contains several groups of the same type. “Glutamic acid” is a particular type of amino acid, which are the natural building blocks of the proteins in our bodies. PGA is a natural ingredient derived from soybeans, but is not naturally occurring in our bodies. It’s structure allows it to hold up to 5000X its own weight in water! This means it is an incredibly powerful humectant and can deliver intense moisture back to the skin!
Polyglutamic Acid (PGA) also works synergistically with Hyaluronic acid (HA). Hyaluronic acid occurs naturally in our bodies, but its concentration in our skin decreases over time, leading to sagging and wrinkled skin. Polyglutamic acid actually inhibits the hyaluronidase enzyme and prevents the breakdown of Hyaluronic! PGA works at the superficial skin barrier level, while Hyaluronic penetrates more deeply. When combined, this means that PGA and HA can prevent your skin from losing its natural moisture (PGA) and also restore any moisture already lost (HA).
Research has shown the PGA can improve skin elasticity after just 2 weeks! In addition to hydrating the skin, PGA also helps create a protective barrier across the skin, as well as reduce fine lines and wrinkles.
-Hyaluronic Acid (HA): We couldn’t let PGA have all the fun without its partner Hyaluronic! When combined, as mentioned above, the Polyglutamic and Hyaluronic in this product work synergistically to hydrate the skin!
-Bakuchiol: This certified vegan ingredient is derived from the Psoralea corylifolia plant. Bakuchiol has many incredible benefits to the skin, and is considered an analog to Vitamin A/Retinol! We know that it acts on the same receptors as retinol, and studies have shown that Bakuchiol can play an important role to encourage skin cell turnover, collagen production and leads to an improvement in lines/wrinkles, pigmentation, elasticity, and firmness of the skin. And because it is not retinol, it works great for the sensitive skin around the eyes!!
-Caffeine: can help people wake up in the morning, and definitely will help give your eye-area a more energetic look! Becoming a key ingredient in eye products, caffeine at low concentrations helps vasoconstrict the tiny blood vessels under the eyes to tremendously improve puffiness, bags, and dark circles around the eyes.
