Textured, Tousled Hair
For hair of any length, tousled locks are the favored summer look. Shorter styles can achieve a beach-blown look through textured, layered cuts as opposed to straight-edge bobs. Those with longer locks can air dry and experiment with a number of styling mousses, mists and light-weight creams to maintain voluminous waves.
Bold Eye Colors, Smudgy Liner
The natural shades of spring are giving way to full-on color for summer. The shades of choice are the blue-greens of the sea, so think:
- Turquoise
- Lime green
- Emerald
Eye color can be achieved through eyeliner or eye shadow. However, be careful not to overdo the look by apply blues and greens with both eyeliner and eye shadow. If you opt for colorful shadow, you may accent your eye with a smoky liner. This season, you do not need the precision of a surgeon to get the perfect line. Models were spied all over with thumbprint liners and/or smudgy liner on the upper and lower lash lines. And, above those lids and lashes, brushed-up brows are in.
Bold Eyes or Lips, But Not Both
When it comes to lips this summer, it's all about the reds matte reds or lip stains that give an uneven cherry-stained look to your pucker. One caution: if you like the vibrant shades for your lips, then skip them on the eyes (use natural hues instead). However, you can match your bright lips with flashy nails.
