How Are Cruelty-Free Products Tested?

Written by Hale Cosmeceuticals Inc | Jun, 5 2015

At Hale Cosmeceuticals, we take pride in offering cruelty-free products that have not been tested on animals. We're strong believers that beauty should never be painful, especially when animal testing is wholly unnecessary. There are other, better, smarter ways to test a product's safety and efficiency:

  • Using existing research. There's now over a century of research looking at the effects of all sorts of ingredients and components on animals. There's simply no need to reinvent the wheel. It's tragic that these animals in the past were subjected to painful testing, but their sacrifice needn't be in vain. We can learn from those test results and apply them to today without needing to repeat everything.
  • Computer models. Using the information we know from previous research, a laboratory can run models and virtual experiments using mathematics rather than living beings to test the effects of a given product.
  • Synthetic models. There are a number of synthetic skin models now available that closely mirror real human skin. In fact, experiments run on these models are actually more accurate because they're formulated to respond just like human skin – not animal.
  • Using safe ingredients. A lot of the trouble of testing new cosmetics can be avoided when you start with natural, wholesome ingredients that are proven to be safe. When you know that a product is made with safe ingredients, there's just no need to test it again.

Rabbits and mice don't wear cosmetics. There's just no point in testing products on them, especially when so many other options are available. When you use any of our cosmetics, you know that you're receiving a product created without causing harm to another living creature."
